Wick South Head WalkClick on image for full size.
The option exists to follow either the upper or lower routes to the South Head. The lower route takes you past the old lifeboat shed, the remains of Stevenson's ill-fated breakwater and through two old quarries which supplied the stone for many of Wick's buildings. The upper route offers a better view of the harbour. Why not enjoy both and make it a round trip? By using the streets in the town as a link, you will have the opportunity to view the interesting historical buildings in the area, particularly in Pulteneytown. This area is of national significance and forms Thomas Telford's more mature work as town planner, being modelled on Bath and predating the second New Town of Edinburgh.
